I don't have a medical diagnosis, nor am I a religious person. So, generally speaking, I should be able to eat all kinds of food. But I avoid spicy food because I prefer to actually taste what I eat rather than just burn my mouth. I've also become leery of acidic food lately and lemonade now gives me a terrible heartburn. I'd be royally annoyed at getting my food messed with this way, so I always make sure that whatever I order arrives the way I want it.

Yes, when we eat spicy food, we might feel like our mouth - or even the entire top of our head - is about to explode. But eating spicy food doesn't generally cause any serious long-term effects. While peppers often add the kick that hurts to different food dishes, one compound in peppers, capsaicin, might actually have health benefits rather than adverse effects.

To some people, jalapeño pepper and buffalo style chicken pizza rolls are like the greatest snack ever. But they contain Frank’s RedHot sauce, so they’ll have your mouth watering and face perspiring from the first bite!

Eating over-spicy foods can aggravate ulcers. Possibly. But consuming spicy foods is not a cause of ulcer disease. The idea that food, in general, can cause ulcers is a common misconception. Ulcer disease is usually caused by anti-inflammatory medications or bacteria in the stomach called H. pylori.

A pinch of pepper augments the metabolism and helps lose weight. I just read about that. While it's technically true, the difference is so tiny that you normally wouldn't notice it. So if you eat a lot of hot spices just to lose weight, you will be disappointed. Instead, it's better to enjoy spices in moderate amounts to enhance and add flavors.
