In nutrition, a diet is the sum of food consumed by an individual.
Many people choose to forgo certain types of food and beverages for health reasons, issues surrounding morality or to reduce their personal impact on the environment, so they embrace already existing diets or compose their own.
Although all diets claim to have some benefits, it has been proved that for some of them, this is incorrect.

In my opinion, exercise is more important than diet to achieve weightloss.

I'd say weightloss is the sum of less calorie intake and increased physical activity.

A diet can be beneficial. If it is balanced, with enough proteins, fats and carbohydrates. If the diet is "I will drink only water," then it is a bad diet. A calorie deficit and balance is the most optimal option.

All extremes are detrimental. If in doubt, please consult your doctor or dietician/nutritionist before you embark upon a weightloss project!
